FAQs
Where is Alumni Hall?
You can navigate to the hall by typing "100 Alumni Hall Notre Dame" into Apple or Google Maps. You can reach it by driving down Notre Dame Avenue towards Main Circle. Alumni Hall is the leftmost of the two buildings on Main Circle - it is truly the Center of the Universe!
When you arrive on campus during move-in day, there will be many ushers stationed around each entrance to campus to guide you into staging (waiting) lots and then towards the building!
What do I do before Moving In?
What can I bring? What can’t I bring? Luckily, thousands of students have asked this question before. Residential Life's website contains this information and more.
What should I have on hand for Move In Day?
Bring your Health Insurance card and a form of ID for checking in. Also, it is very helpful to know your room number in advance and label your bags with it - you can find it on Home Under the Dome. The St. Andre Welcome Team will handle carrying all of your luggage!
What furniture is provided in the room?
Every room in Alumni has a set of modular furniture for each resident. Included in each set is a desk, chair, wardrobe, bed, and ladder. Not Included: rugs, mattress toppers, pillows, futons, lounge chairs, and other wall decor.
Are there elevators in the hall?
Yes! Alumni Hall has one elevator in the Talley hallway.
Will I need a key to get into the building?
All entries to both the building and the individual rooms require keycard access. However, Alumni Hall uses digital key cards rather than physical keys. Your IrishOne ID, which will be on your phone, will be activated once you check in during move-in.
What are we doing once I arrive?
We have an exciting Welcome Weekend planned for our new pups! We will have plenty of events to help you acclimate to dorm life and meet older Dawgs! You can see the official university schedule on the Welcome Weekend website. Keep an eye out for an email from the Welcome Weekend Co-Chairs about the fun programming in store.
Can I Receive Packages?
Amazon, UPS, and FedEx will deliver packages directly to your door in Alumni Hall. The United States Postal Service (USPS) will deliver packages to the mail room in Alumni Hall Monday through Friday. NOTE: USPS mail is delivered first to the Notre Dame Post Office on campus, located on Holy Cross Drive. Then, it is sorted and delivered to the various residence halls. So if USPS online tracking says that a package was "delivered" that means it was deliverd to the campus Post Office not to the hall. USPS mail delivered to the mailroom will then be dropped off at your room by our friendly "Mail Dawgs." They also deliver letters and smaller items directly to your room!
DO NOT mail packages to your room before you move in. Various student camps and groups live in Alumni Hall over the summer, and we cannot guarantee that your mail will be there when you move in. For addressing purposes, the United States Postal Service requires you to use the following format:
